Download a map
Check RVC for the lat / long.
Open the RVC web interface, read the robot's current GPS position, and type those
two numbers in here.
- Open RVC and let the robot get a GPS fix.
- Read the latitude and longitude it reports.
- Copy them here exactly — keep all the decimal places.
How far east or west. Positive = east, negative = west.
Bigger number = more detail, smaller area. 18 suits a rover test site.
How many map squares wide and tall. Your point sits in the middle.
Getting a MapTiler key — one time only.
- Go to maptiler.com and create an account.
- Open your account dashboard and find the API keys page.
- Create a new key — just giving it a name should be good.
- Paste the new API key, or an existing API key, in the box above.
Fill in the boxes, then press Preview.

Do not rename the file
The downloaded image already has the correct name. RVC reads the latitude, longitude, zoom and grid size out of the file name to place the map correctly — if you rename it, RVC cannot use it.
